Committing to Sustainability on AWS
How hosting on AWS fits into the way Adams Digital thinks about its environmental footprint.
Running websites and cloud services takes energy, and the data centers behind them use a lot of it. At Adams Digital, we try to keep the footprint of what we run small.
Hosting on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Every site we host runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS), which matters here in two ways:
1. Leveraging AWS’s Commitment to Sustainability
AWS is committed to achieving 100% renewable energy usage for its global infrastructure footprint. The cloud giant has numerous initiatives and investments in renewable energy projects. Because the sites we host run on AWS, they run on the infrastructure that renewable energy commitment covers.
Further information about AWS’s sustainability efforts can be found on the AWS Sustainability page.
2. No Server of Our Own Sitting Idle
The sites we host are static files stored in Amazon S3 and served through Amazon CloudFront. There’s no dedicated server of ours running around the clock waiting for visitors. Storage and delivery are shared infrastructure that’s used when a page is requested.
Conclusion
If you’d like your own site hosted the same way, the plans are on our web hosting page.
